First ever all girls MYWAY Duals State Championship

KALAMAZOO Often overlooked, are the lessons we can learn from engaging in activities such as sports. Wrestling is one such sport with hefty lesson if you dig deep enough. To be truly successful, one must learn to ‘embrace the grind’.

Defending champion leaves Iditarod race over health concerns

ANCHORAGE, ALASKA (AP) Brent Sass, the defending Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race champion, withdrew from this year’s race on Saturday, March 11, citing concerns for his health. Sass scratched at the Eagle Island checkpoint, a statement from the Iditarod said.

Lady Beavers, District Champions after victory over Houghton Lake

After defeating the Harrison Hornets in the MHSAA Division 3 girls basketball playoff bracket, the lady Beavers traveled to Houghton Lake for the District Finals on Friday night. The Beavers overpowered the Houghton Lake Bobcats 42-33, winning their second District Title in three years.

Flying G’s bowling has continued success

Gladwin High School Boys Bowling Team worked all season and that work paid off big. The undefeated team made it to Division 3 Michigan High School Athletic Association Finals held at the Jax 60 Bowling Complex in Jackson, Michigan, on March 3-4.

Gladwin boys freshman basketball ends season with 17-1 record

GLADWIN The Gladwin Flying G’s boys freshman basketball team was in action last Tuesday night, February 28. The Flying G’s played host to the Bullock Creek Lancers, defeating their opponents 59-57. “It was a roller coaster of a game,” Bryan Randle, Gladwin coach, said after the game.

Down 13, Gladwin rallies in second half to win by 19

WEST BRANCH The playoffs kicked off Monday night for the Flying G’s boys basketball team. Traveling to West Branch to face off with the Ogemaw Heights Falcons, Gladwin found themselves down 13 points early in the third quarter. The game appeared over, momentum heavily favoring the Falcons.
