American Legion Baseball at annual Gabby Mills Tourney

MIDLAND The Linwood American Legion Post 239 baseball team 18 and under played in the 43rd Annual Gabby Mills July 4th Invitational. The tournament was held at Gerace Baseball Stadium, Northwoods University this past Friday, June 30, 2023.
On June 28, Lucas Mead played in the 42nd annual East-West All-Star Classic playing for the West team. The East team ended up winning the game 7-3. Mead played four innings, twice at right, and one inning each at left and center field with two at bats. He went 0-1 with a walk. Mead says he was honored and proud to represent the Gladwin Flying G’s and the Jack Pine Conference.

Where’s Gladwin Baseball

GLADWIN COUNTY Scott Brokoff, one of the coaches from Gladwin American Legion Post 171 Baseball Team 2022, and I had met last year during the summer baseball season.

Gladwin Junior High School Boys Track Finals

The Gladwin Junior High Boys Track Team’s final meet of the season was on May 31. They had eight individuals compete at the Megastars Meet in Shepherd. There were 140 schools at this meet, making it the largest middle school meet in the country.

Congratulations to Lincoln McKinnon on a phenomenal performance in the MHSFCA East/West All-Star Game held at Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, MI. He had two sacks, and two tackles in a 26-14 West win.

GLADWIN 12U ALL-STAR GIRLS PLACE FIRST

The Gladwin 12U All-Star Girls went 5-0 at the Beaverton tournament to win the championship! These girls finished the all-star season undefeated. Pictured in back row: Leah Grove, AvaKay Hilts, Kayla Earls, and Lainey Nash. Middle row: Bella Hodgins, Klaire Thurlow, and Suthern Reed.
On June 23, at Sam’s Scramble, Jimmy Green got his second hole in one in 24 hours! It was at hole #10, 128 yards out with an 8 iron. It was witnessed by Dave Lawson, Ryan Balzer and Eric Greer.

GLADWIN There is still time to register for the 0.5k Micro Marathon to be held at at Riverwalk Place on Sunday, July 9, at 2:00p.m. This annual event is fun for all ages and abilities while benefiting The Trail of Two Cities.
