Linwood Post 239 qualifies for 2023 Great Lakes Regional Tournament

The Linwood American Legion Post 239 Baseball Team finished second in the 2023 Michigan State Tournament held in Blissfield last week. Post 239 finished 3-2 in the tourney, including teams from Blissfield Post 325, Stevensville Post 568, Adrian Post 275, Mt. Pleasant Post 110 and Midland Post 165.

ReLeaf Michigan 2023-2024 Michigan Big Tree Hunt Contest

ReLeaf Michigan, the only statewide tree planting and education non-profit organization in Michigan, is seeking entries for the 16th biennial Michigan Big Tree Hunt contest. The 2023-2024 contest, which offers prizes for identifying the biggest trees in Michigan, is open to participants of all ages.

MHSAA member schools continue rebound in sports participation in 2022-23

EAST LANSING Participation in Michigan High School Athletic Association-sponsored sports increased for the second-straight school year in 2022-23, continuing its recovery from a COVID-related decline and despite another decrease in school enrollment among the MHSAA’s 750 member high schools.

GHS Dance Team Bottle Drive

GLADWIN On Saturday, July 29, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and Sunday, July 30, from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., the Gladwin High School Dance team will be having a bottle drive. Proceeds from the returned cans and bottles will go towards replacing the team’s nine plus year old uniforms to get new, matching uniforms.

Fall registration for Gladwin County Youth Soccer

GLADWIN The Gladwin County Youth Soccer Association is open for registration for fall soccer until July 31 with no late fee, or from August 1-5 with a $15 late fee.

Gladwin Youth Football Fundraiser

GLADWIN On August 12, at Piper’s Pub, located at 238 W. Cedar Avenue, there will be a Corn hole Tournament fundraiser benefiting Gladwin Youth Football. To enter your team there will be a cost of $50. The event will begin at 2 p.m. and will have prizes.
