Even though Gladwin rolled through the first 15 games of the Northern Michigan Soccer League campaign without much trouble, capping off the league championship was anything but easy.

Gladwin girls tie for first at invitational

Records were made to be broken Saturday when the Gladwin girls’ cross country team tied host Meridian for the championship at the inaugural Coach Cole Memorial Invitational with 28 points. “The girls ran very well,” said Flying G’s coach Lauren Reynolds.

Gladwin, Beaverton win boys’ cross titles

Seeking some action during a two-week break in the schedule between Jack Pine Conference jamborees, the Gladwin boys’ cross country team headed to Meridian Saturday for the inaugural Coach Cole Memorial Invitational.

Gladwin beats Beavers in JV football showdown

After a scoreless first quarter, the scoreboard lit up the night as the Gladwin junior varsity football team ran off with a 40-18 victory over rival Beaverton. “It was a great game overall on both offense and defense,” said Flying G’s coach Justin Cherry.

The third Annual Al Crawford Scotch Doubles Bowling Fundraiser, to support the Gladwin Area Friends of the Theatre, will take place on Oct. 29 at Meadow Lanes, 430 W. 5th St. Sign up begins at 1 p.m., and bowling starts at 2 p.m. Cost will be $40.

GJHS/GIS place second at Meridian

The Gladwin Intermediate School (GIS) boys cross country team ran this past Saturday morning at Meridian. The boys finished 2nd as a team on the one-mile course and every single runner had a personal record (PR).

BEAVERTON Defense wins championships. It also comes in handy when a team is shooting for its first victory of the season. The Beaverton junior varsity football team headed into Thursday’s home game against Harrison with an 0-5-1 record and pitched a shutout to crack the win column, 22-0.
