Beaverton boys set new marks at regional

EAST JORDAN Saturday’s Division 3 regional at East Jordan may have been the end of the road for the Beaverton boys’ cross country team, but there is hope for the future. All four runners recorded personal best times on a course that dried out in time to allow for speed.

HARRISON Leaving no doubt about it, the Gladwin boys’ cross country team nailed down a third consecutive Jack Pine Conference championship last Wednesday at Harrison by completing a sweep of all three jamborees.

Beavers; G’s head to playoffs

PINCONNING Beaverton will kick off the Division 7 football playoffs Friday at 7 p.m. with a home game against Hemlock. The Beavers will bring a record of 6-3 into the battle with the Huskies, who sport a deceptive 3-6 mark. “Hemlock played a tough schedule,” said Beaverton coach Aaron Seiser.

GLADWIN The first 19 games of the season were pretty much blue skies and sunshine for the Gladwin soccer team.

Trio runs to all-conference honors

HARRISON Three local runners cracked the top 10 in the final Jack Pine Conference girls’ cross country jamboree last Wednesday at Harrison. Gladwin’s Abby Robinson was fourth in a time of 21:46, Beaverton’s Tessa Wohlschlegel was fifth in 22:03 and Lillian Binger sixth in 22:28 for the Flying G’s.

Frankenmuth turns tables on Gladwin in state final rematch

GLADWIN Frankenstein stomped into Gladwin Friday night, tramping over the countryside and terrifying the villagers. OK, technically, it was Frankenmuth that was in town to play the Flying G’s in the final football game of the regular season, but one look at the scoreboard and you get the point.

GLADWIN Gladwin is poised to win the Jack Pine Conference volleyball championship for the second year in a row and, when you consider last week’s results, Beaverton is right up there with the Flying G’s. The rivals met twice in two days.
