HARRISON Three local runners cracked the top 10 in the final Jack Pine Conference girls’ cross country jamboree last Wednesday at Harrison. Gladwin’s Abby Robinson was fourth in a time of 21:46, Beaverton’s Tessa Wohlschlegel was fifth in 22:03 and Lillian Binger sixth in 22:28 for the Flying G’s.

GLADWIN Frankenstein stomped into Gladwin Friday night, tramping over the countryside and terrifying the villagers. OK, technically, it was Frankenmuth that was in town to play the Flying G’s in the final football game of the regular season, but one look at the scoreboard and you get the point.
Gladwin put up a road block and earned the Cedar Cup by beating visiting Beaverton in four sets just two days after falling to the Beavers at an invitational.

GLADWIN Gladwin is poised to win the Jack Pine Conference volleyball championship for the second year in a row and, when you consider last week’s results, Beaverton is right up there with the Flying G’s. The rivals met twice in two days.
Gladwin’s undefeated 8th grade football team took the win in the championship game against McBain on Sunday, October 22, that was held at Northwood University. Final score was 36-6. The team will move on to the Midwest MegaBowl tournament. Way to go!

The championship chapter has yet to be written, but the Gladwin volleyball team remained alone atop the Jack Pine Conference standings last Wednesday with a 25-14, 27-25, 25-19 victory at Clare. “Our block was great,” said Flying G’s coach Tony Wetmore.
With a wet ball and a rain-soaked field, winning battles like this in the trenches lifted the Gladwin football team to a 50-0 victory over visiting Beaverton Friday night in The Battle For Butch.
