GLADWIN The first 19 games of the season were pretty much blue skies and sunshine for the Gladwin soccer team.

Trio runs to all-conference honors

HARRISON Three local runners cracked the top 10 in the final Jack Pine Conference girls’ cross country jamboree last Wednesday at Harrison. Gladwin’s Abby Robinson was fourth in a time of 21:46, Beaverton’s Tessa Wohlschlegel was fifth in 22:03 and Lillian Binger sixth in 22:28 for the Flying G’s.

Frankenmuth turns tables on Gladwin in state final rematch

GLADWIN Frankenstein stomped into Gladwin Friday night, tramping over the countryside and terrifying the villagers. OK, technically, it was Frankenmuth that was in town to play the Flying G’s in the final football game of the regular season, but one look at the scoreboard and you get the point.

Rivals trade victories

GLADWIN Gladwin is poised to win the Jack Pine Conference volleyball championship for the second year in a row and, when you consider last week’s results, Beaverton is right up there with the Flying G’s. The rivals met twice in two days.
Gladwin’s undefeated 8th grade football team took the win in the championship game against McBain on Sunday, October 22, that was held at Northwood University. Final score was 36-6. The team will move on to the Midwest MegaBowl tournament. Way to go!

Gladwin Cross Country teams finish season

HARRISON The Gladwin Junior High boys cross country team ran their last jack pine jamboree of the season on Wednesday, October 18 at Harrison. The hilly course made for a tough course, but the boys still ran hard.

MERIDIAN Gladwin’s junior varsity volleyball team rolled to a 25-12, 25-14 victory at Meridian last Wednesday night. Chloe Mausolf had five aces and five 5 assists. Natalie Bock had six assists. Maddy Pagel added five kills and five digs.

Gladwin, Beaverton sweep Jack Pine volleyball rivals

The championship chapter has yet to be written, but the Gladwin volleyball team remained alone atop the Jack Pine Conference standings last Wednesday with a 25-14, 27-25, 25-19 victory at Clare. “Our block was great,” said Flying G’s coach Tony Wetmore.

Butch. Bragging rights. A third straight Jack Pine Conference championship. Playoff points. All that and more was on the line Friday when the Gladwin varsity football team hosted rival Beaverton. Literally.
