Gladwin girls open new year with first Jack Pine victory

GLADWIN After dropping the first three Jack Pine Conference games of the season in December, the Gladwin girls’ basketball team turned the page on the calendar and opened the new year with a 51-32 victory over visiting Farwell Thursday night.

Gladwin boys’ bowling team rolls over Jack Pine Conference rivals

SANFORD Whether the competition was for a full squad or individuals, the Gladwin boys’ bowling team was on a roll last week. On Wednesday, the Flying G’s remained tied with Pinconning atop the Jack Pine conference standings at 4-0 with a 27-3 victory over Meridian at Valley Lanes.

TRAVERSE CITY Gold medalist Gaven Evans Furgeson led the Gladwin wrestling team to a successful showing at the Traverse City West Holiday Invitational Thursday. “It was a very early Thursday morning bus ride for the boys but well worth the drive,” said Flying G’s coach Buddy Goldsworthy.
Cindy Jones harvested her first archery buck, a 7-point, and her biggest ever, on November 1 at The Jones Ranch. A perfect broadside 45-yard double lung shot. It didn’t go very far. She was accompanied by her husband, Chuck Jones, who was able to grunt him into range.
