The 16th season of Co-Ed Volleyball at the Beaverton Church of the Nazarene, 540 Lang Rd., begins on Thursday, January 4. The games will start at 6:30 p.m., 7:15 p.m., 8 p.m., and 8:45 p.m.

Year 50 of the Roy Johnston Era as head coach of the Beaverton boys’ basketball team tipped off Nov. 28 and the state’s all-time winningest coach chalked up another one as the Beavers topped visiting Coleman 41-25.
“For as young as we are, we did alright,” said Johnston.

The Jack Pine Conference bowling season opened Saturday at Gateway Lanes in Clare and, perhaps predictably, there were splits.
Beaverton’s girls’ team won its match, while the boys’ team lost.
Gladwin’s boys’ team won and the girls’ team lost.

Gladwin girls top Beavers in 7th grade hoop battle

Aback-and-forth game ended with Gladwin on top Nov. 20 when the Flying G’s seventh grade girls’ basketball team beat host Beaverton 24-20.
The Beavers came out firing and ran up a 10-5 lead in the first quarter.
