BEAVERTON The top team in the Jack Pine Conference was in town Friday night and the Beaverton boys’ basketball team had to face the music. Meridian ran away with a 51-29 victory as the Beavers missed too many notes, not to mention shots, to keep up.

BEAVERTON The two teams that were tied for first place in the Jack Pine Conference girls’ basketball standings squared off Friday night and Meridian stood alone at the head of the pack after an impressive 69-39 victory at Beaverton. “That’s a really good team,” said Beavers coach Jason Hubble.

SANFORD Whether the competition was for a full squad or individuals, the Gladwin boys’ bowling team was on a roll last week. On Wednesday, the Flying G’s remained tied with Pinconning atop the Jack Pine conference standings at 4-0 with a 27-3 victory over Meridian at Valley Lanes.
