GLADWIN There will be a free Italian Meal Supper Club on Tuesday, January 23, at 6 p.m. The event will take place at the Beaverton Activity Center, 106 Tonkin St. Beaverton. Presenting at the event is Dr. Goodin. There will also be free handouts, prizes, recipes, and tips.

BEAVERTON The top team in the Jack Pine Conference was in town Friday night and the Beaverton boys’ basketball team had to face the music. Meridian ran away with a 51-29 victory as the Beavers missed too many notes, not to mention shots, to keep up.

Executing the game plan paid off for the Gladwin boys’ basketball team Friday night in a 61-21 victory at Farwell. Starters Seth Mead and Trace Corlew were both out of the lineup, but the Flying G’s still roared out to a 20-2 lead by the end of the first quarter and never looked back.

BEAVERTON The two teams that were tied for first place in the Jack Pine Conference girls’ basketball standings squared off Friday night and Meridian stood alone at the head of the pack after an impressive 69-39 victory at Beaverton. “That’s a really good team,” said Beavers coach Jason Hubble.

GLADWIN After dropping the first three Jack Pine Conference games of the season in December, the Gladwin girls’ basketball team turned the page on the calendar and opened the new year with a 51-32 victory over visiting Farwell Thursday night.
