Beaverton girls roll to big win over Clare

A28.5-1.5 victory over Clare on Jan. 22 raised the Beaverton girls’ bowling team’s record to 3-2 in the Jack Pine Conference. The Beavers hosted the event, where Gladwin lost to Farwell 23-7 to leave the rivals in a tie for third place in the standings at 3-2.
14U Bantams team is coached by Devin Woods and Jim Oard. Players are: Noah Bruursema, Gareth DeKraker, Hunter Eagan, Trinity Hair, Maddox Hart, Landon Jenkins, Calvin Knoerr, Cameron Oard, Maeson Russell, Bailey Snyder, Parker Woods, and Jacob Zeitz.

The Gladwin Area hockey community is ablaze with excitement as the youth teams of the area wrote history by sweeping the district playoffs across all three age categories – 10U Squirts, 12U PeeWees, and 14U Bantams.

Big second half lifts Gladwin girls past Beaverton

GLADWIN What a difference a half makes. With the Cedar Cup on the line last Tuesday night, the Gladwin girls’ basketball team trailed visiting rival Beaverton 20-16 at halftime, but the Flying G’s turned things around and dominated the rest of the game on the way to a 44-35 victory.

BEAVERTON The first half was as close as could be, but the second half belonged to the Gladwin junior varsity girls’ basketball team in a 40-30 victory at Beaverton. The first quarter ended with the rivals deadlocked 10-10 and the Flying G’s were up just 16-15 at the half.
