GLADWIN There will be a fundraiser to benefit the Gladwin Post 171 and Linwood Post 239 American Legion baseball teams. The event will take place Saturday, February 3 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 751 M-18, Gladwin.

GLADWIN COUNTY Gladwin’s girls’ and boys’ basketball teams will each host Coaches Vs. Cancer games next week with a goal of raising $4,000 for the American Cancer Society. The girls’ team will take on Standish on Tuesday night, while the boys’ event will be against Farwell on Thursday.

GLADWIN COUNTY The Gladwin junior varsity boys’ basketball team fell to 10-3 Thursday night after a tough 41-39 loss at Shepherd. Colton Pfenninger scored 18 points for the Flying G’s. Pfenninger had 21 points on Jan. 22 in a 41-16 romp over visiting Marion.
Beaverton’s Ian Krezenski and Gladwin’s Gaven Evans-Ferguson square off at 165 during last Wednesday’s dual meet at Clare. Evans-Ferguson earned a 10-5 decision to help the Flying G’s to a 58-16 victory.

CLARE On a night when all the toss-ups seemed to go in one direction, the Gladwin wrestling team pinned down a big 58-16 victory over Beaverton Wednesday night in a Jack Pine Conference tri-meet at Clare.

HARRISON Snapping a six-game losing streak is one thing. Blowing it to pieces is quite another. The Beaverton boys’ basketball team selected the second option Thursday night, putting everything together in a 70-22 victory at Harrison. “We really played well,” said Beavers coach Roy Johnston.

BEAVERTON All the arrows are pointing toward the top of the charts for the Gladwin boys’ bowling team in the Jack Pine Conference. The Flying G’s ran their record to 5-0 on Jan. 22 with a 30-0 victory over Farwell.
