Exchange student Dakoda Lawrence returns from Thailand

GLADWIN Dakoda Lawrence, a 19-year-old graduate from Harrison High School spent just under a year studying abroad in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. Dakoda was sponsored by the Gladwin Rotary Club as an exchange student with Rotary Youth Exchange.

In Northern and Central Michigan, we are very lucky with most weather events. We do have tornados. Fortunately, most of them are not severe – category 4 or 5. They can do significant damage, but we are not exactly “Hurricane Alley” like some western states.

Golden Key Camp/Park shares plans with Kiwanis

GLADWIN At last week’s Kiwanis meeting, Lisa Keck Kujawa shared her dream, now becoming a reality, of a place where children with cancer, and their families, can be outside and active with no cost to them – a place where children and their families will be able to play without limitations.

Gladwin volunteers name scholarship award winners

GLADWIN The volunteers of MyMichigan Medical Center Gladwin have named the winners of their 2023 Health Care Scholarship Awards. Selected were Elizabeth Hoag, Sindle Corlew and Abigail Manges. Each recipient received a $1,500 scholarship for college.

CMDHD to partner with organizations for children’s hygiene drive

CLARE Central Michigan District Health Department (CMDHD) is working with community partners to collect donations for hygiene essentials for school-aged children. Staff from CMDHD’s REFRESH Program will collect donations from boxes at local organizations through August 18, 2023.

Iwas relaxing in my comfy chair, and my wife yelled out, “Joel, it’s time to buy yourself a new chair; it’s worn out!” I pretended to be sleeping so I did not have to respond. My chair is not worn out – I just got it broken in. I could not fall asleep; the wind was howling and gusting.

Gladwin Adult Education open house

GLADWIN COUNTY Gladwin Adult Education, serving adults age 20 and older, will be holding an open house for enrollment, the week of July 10-14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily, at 3982 West M-61 in Gladwin. They are closed the week of July 3.
