WCMU Public Radio hosts third annual “WCMU Foodraiser”

WCMU Public Radio, in partnership with the Feeding America food banks serving central and northern Michigan, will host the “WCMU Foodraiser” fund drive, a unique opportunity to combat food insecurity in Michigan while raising support for WCMU.

Inmate smuggles fentanyl into Gladwin jail; causes three overdoses

GLADWIN COUNTY On September 24, 2023, three inmates at the Gladwin County Jail were experiencing life threatening symptoms. One inmate was laying on the cell floor turning blue, while the second inmate was collapsing, the third was experiencing severe symptoms from an unknown cause.

Each year, thousands of students attend Mid Michigan College. Over 80 percent of those students receive some form of financial aid. Although that aid can vary, scholarships from local donors play a critical role in filling the financial gap for students who need a little help.

Al Crawford Bowling Fundraiser a success

GLADWIN The third Annual Al Crawford Bowling Fundraiser took place on Sunday, October 29 at Meadow Lanes Bowling & Banquet Center. The fundraiser supports the Gladwin Area Friends of the Theater (GAFT) and the community.

80th annual sausage and sauerkraut supper

GLADWIN The 80th Annual Homemade sausage and sauerkraut supper will be held on Tuesday, November 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 331, Clendening Rd. Gladwin, MI.

CORRECTIONS OFFICERS GRADUATE

Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office Corrections officers, Wade Sturgeon and Robert Lattin, recently graduated from corrections officer training academy at Kirtland Community College. The four-week academy had an interactive instruction program in various disciplines specific to officers.

Car seat check event slated for November 3

GLADWIN COUNTY MyMichigan Health and the Gladwin Rural Urban Fire Department have partnered to host a community car seat safety event. The free event includes car seat safety checks and assistance installing car seats.

MARSP hold annual Harvest Luncheon

Bowling For Books Fundraiser Nov. 18

GLADWIN ABowling For Books Fundraiser will take place on November 18, 6 p.m. at Meadow Lanes located at 430 W. 5th Street in Gladwin. Proceeds from the event will provide books for children ages 0-5. It will also feature prizes, a silent auction, bake sale and a 50/50 raffle.
