The Sugar Springs Stitchers gathered this week to make 40 walker bags for the community. These bags attach to a walker, allowing the user to safely carry water, glasses, books, or other needs while moving about.

Eagle Ridge Church of God, located at 3987 S. M-18 in Beaverton, will have Community Supper every second Monday of the month from 5:30-7 p.m. This free catered meal will have live music. Everyone is invited, no RSVP needed, so bring a friend. No takeout is available.

Food distribution at Christ the King

GLADWIN COUNTYThe Gladwin/Beaverton Community Food Distribution (GBCFD) will be hosting it’s next distribution on Sept. 19, 2026 at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 600 S. M-18, Gladwin.Address verification will be required for all food recipients. The handing out of food, will begin about 10 a.m.

Ten 16 Recovery and Remembrance event Aug. 29

BEAVERTONTen 16 Recovery Network will have a Recovery and Remembrance Free Family Overdose Awareness event. It will take place on Aug. 29, 12-7 p.m., at 358 Ross Street in Beaverton.The event will feature testimonies, a vigil, food trucks, live music, face painting and bouncehouses.

‘I Voted’ sticker design contest winners announced

LANSINGSecretary of State Jocelyn Benson recently announced the nine winners of the state’s 2026 ‘I Voted’ sticker design contest. Michigan’s election clerks can order the winning stickers to give to voters in the November General Election.
