Beaverton wins three in Harrison, not enough to win Jack Pine conference title

Beaverton gave their best leaving it all on the court in hopes Gladwin would lose one or two matches Wednesday night. The Beavers finished the night in Harrison undefeated notching three more conference wins to their standings in the Jack Pine. The perfect night, however, was not enough as Gladwin also went undefeated Wednesday night. Beaverton finished the regular season 12-2 in conference play, taking second place in the Jack Pine conference.

The Beavers faced Clare in their first match of the night, winning in three sets. The first set was taken by Beaverton with a close score of 25-22. Clare evened the odds, taking the second set 16-25. Beaverton bounced right back to win the third set and the match with a final score of 25-18.

Shepherd was the Beavers second opponent of the night. The Blue Jays posed little stress for the Beavers. Beaverton took down the Blue Jays in two sets with final scores of 2511 and 25-13.

Beaverton’s final match of the night was against Harrison. The Hornets fought valiantly, however, fell to the Beavers in two sets. The Beavers won both sets with a score of 25-20 in each.

Leading the Beavers in kills was Faith Danielak with 18 followed by Karly Fischer with 17 kills and Leiyah Mungin with 16 kills. Danielak and Fischer displayed excellent defense as well finishing the night with 20 digs for Danielak and 15 digs for Fischer. Adalee Martin led the team with 24 digs.

Kaelyn Fischer contributed to the team effort leading the Beavers in assists with 33. Leiyah Mungin also set teammates up well recording 18 assists herself.

Beaverton served the ball exceptionally well throughout the night. Recording aces for the Beavers were Kaelyn Fischer with six aces, Faith Danielak with four aces, Leiyah Mungin with three aces, and Karly Fischer with three aces.

Beaverton finished the regular season with an overall record of 25-10-1. Playoff season started on Monday night in Houghton Lake for the Beavers, taking on the Roscommon Bucks.

HOUGHTON LAKE

Excitement filled the air, for Beaverton fans, Monday night as their lady Beavers defeated the Roscommon Bucks to advance in the playoffs. The Beavers won the match in three sets, refusing to allow the Bucks a moment of victory.

Leiyah Mungin led the Beavers in kills with 15. Mungin also accumulated 11 assists for the night. Leading Beaverton in assists was Kaelyn Fischer with 24.

The Beavers defended their court masterfully, Kaelyn Fischer recording eight digs while her sister, Karly Fischer, led the Beavers with 10 digs.

Faith Danielak contributed greatly to the Beavers victory with 11 kills for the night.

The Beavers return to Houghton Lake tonight for another round of district playoff action. They are set to take on the Houghton Lake Bobcats and look to advance to the District Finals.
