HOUGHTON LAKE

The lady Beavers Volleyball team may have missed out as Jack Pine champions this season. The minor setback has not stopped the Beavers from making a deep playoff run. The Beaverton Beavers won their sixth straight district title after back-to-back trips to Houghton Lake. Their first trip, last Wednesday, they conquered Houghton Lake in the District semifinals, then slayed the Harrison Hornets Thursday night to take home the district crown.

“It’s pretty special to win our sixth straight district title,” Beaverton coach Steve Evans committed after defeating Harrison. “Our girls have worked very hard to be playing their best volleyball of the season in November,” the coach added.

Beaverton took down the Houghton Lake Bobcats in three sets, not waivering a single win to the Bobcats. The scores for the first two sets were 25-15 and 25-9.

The Bobcats fought strongly in the final set trying to avoid elimination, falling 25-20.
