I jumped out of bed at 5 a.m, ready to take on the new day! I fed the dogs, made my protein drink, caught up on the news, and was ready to take my pups for a walk! I looked outside and it was pitch black!I’m not comfortable taking my dogs for a walk in the dark.

On Oct.1 Beaverton’s Gem Theater turned 85 years old. Though it is not the oldest business operating in the county – the Gladwin County Record holds that distinction at 147 years – but the Gem is old enough that there are very few who can remember its opening day on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 1940.
