GLADWINAmerican Legion Post 171 is announcing the formation of the Sons of the American Legion (SAL) Squadron.Any adult whose father or grandfather served in the U.S. military is eligible to join.Meetings will take place at the American Legion Post located at 128 N. Silverleaf St. in Gladwin, 6 p.m.

Sometimes birds derail me when I have other plans. Just this week I was on my way to Gladwin for some non-birding business. I didn’t even have my spotting scope. Driving west down Winegars Road, a bird perched atop a dead snag to my left caught my attention.
