GLADWINAnew business, Barefoot & Crafty Makers Market + Studio, is opening in downtown Gladwin. The business will officially open on August 24, where there will also be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m.The location will have two storefronts, Barefoot & Crafty Makers Market at 227 W. Cedar Ave.

Gladwin and Beaverton both had railroads, as did other county locations: Rhodes, Estey, Bomanville and Meredith. Even Butman and Sherman Townships had railroad, even before Gladwin and Beaverton. Contrary to some rumors, Gladwin and Beaverton were never connected.

Who remembers their first day of school? I do! My mom walked me to Oak Ridge Elementary School. It was a September day, and it was cool in the morning, so I was nervous. I did not attend any pre-school or Montessori – my parents would not have been able to afford it.
