HAMILTONSenior distance runner Caleb Palmreuter qualified in four events and scored in three of them to lead the Gladwin boys’ track team to a ninthplace finish at the Division 2 state meet at Hamilton Saturday.Palmreuter finished fifth in the 800 meters in a time of 1:56.

HOUGHTON LAKEThe top three golf teams at each regional qualify to compete in the state tournament.That is not good news for Gladwin.The Flying G’s finished fourth at last Tuesday’s Division 3 regional at Quest Golf Course in Houghton Lake and missed the cut by just four strokes.

BEAVERTONRegistrations are now being accepted for the 30th annual Beaverton Area Business Association (BABA) Golf Tournament, which is slated for Wednesday, June 12.The tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. at Snow Snake Golf Course and includes morning refreshments, lunch, and a steak dinner.

CLAREIt didn’t take long for the Beaverton softball team to find out that Friday just wasn’t its day.The Beavers met Farwell in the semifinals of Clare’s Division 3 district tournament and the leadoff hitter for the Eagles hit a line drive to right field that went for a sun-aided two-base error.

HAMILTONGetting to the state in eight did not work out for the Gladwin girls’ track team.The Flying G’s qualified for the Division 2 state meet at Hamilton in eight events, but did not score. Dearborn Divine Child ran off with the team championship with 46 points.
