BEAVERTONBeaverton hosted Gladwin and Coleman Friday afternoon for the Dust the Rust middle school track meet to open the season.In the boys’ meet, Gladwin’s throwers had a big day with Michael Brasseur first in the shot put with a 44’9.5” effort. Liam Pohlman was second at 43’4.

GLADWIN COUNTYAfree boater safety class, sponsored by the Michigan DNR and the Gladwin County Sheriff’s Department, will take place April 19, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Hay Township Hall located at 1220 E. Highwood Road in Beaverton.A Michigan Boater Safety Certificate will be issued upon passing.

FOWLERVILLEWinning two gold medals, two silvers and a bronze helped the Gladwin boys’ track team place fifth with 47 points Friday at the Fowlerville Early Season Open.Williamston topped the field of 16 teams with 141.5, followed by Lansing Waverly with 76.
