LANSINGOn July 11, 2024, the Michigan Natural Resources Commission approved the scheduled deer hunting regulations for this fall. The full package of regulations includes updates that won’t begin until after the 2024 seasons have ended; those updates will be explained at a later date.

GLADWIN COUNTYThe Gail Wildfong School of Dance (GWSD) held its 42nd annual dance recital June 6-8 at the Gladwin High School Cafetorium. Approximately 250 dancers performed in four separate recitals, wowing nearly sold-out audiences each time.

Marcus Myers, 13-years-old, caught a 21-inch large mouth bass on July 1, 2024. The bass weighed three pounds and was caught on Nester Lake in Arthur Township, Clare, MI. It was caught in the evening.

Local youth baseball team bids farewell after playing together since 2021

The Gladwin County Captains, a community- based baseball team was created in 2021 by head coach Jim Oard, coached alongside of Justin Reid. The team consisted of boys from both Beaverton and Gladwin, who shared a love for the sport and a desire to improve their skills.
