STANDISHPlaying on the road in a Jack Pine Conference crossover against a Division 1 team, the Beaverton junior varsity football team put up a fight in a 32-18 loss at Standish.“Our effort was really good for four quarters,” said Beavers coach Aaron Wentworth.

GLADWINThere were a few bumps in the road here and there, but the Gladwin volleyball team won both of its matches last week and only gave up one set in the process.Monday was “Future Flying G Night” with athletes from the 3-6th grade youth program on hand to warm up with the varsity.

BEAVERTONAfter rolling through the first seven Jack Pine Conference matches of the season, the Beaverton volleyball team hit a rough patch in the schedule last week and fell to a pair of conference rivals.

PINCONNINGAfter finishing fourth at the first two Jack Pine Conference jamborees, the Gladwin girls’ cross country team made a bid to take a step up the ladder last Wednesday at Spartan Forest in Pinconning in the third and final showdown, but fell one point short.

CADILLACSeth Mead raced to the front of the pack for the Gladwin boys’ cross country team Saturday, setting a new school record by winning the gold medal at the Northern Michigan Meet of Champions at Veterans Serving Veterans Park in Cadillac in a sizzling time of 15:25.8.

GLADWINThe Gladwin Intermediate School (GIS) and Gladwin Junior High School (GJHS) cross country girls ran in the third Jack Pine conference meet on Wednesday, October 16 hosted by Pinconning. The new course was a little rough, but the girls ran quite well.

GLADWINThe final results for the PTO walk-a-thon are in! There were 36 competing classes with a total of 774 kids. They completed 4,118 laps and raised $7,478.The elementary school top earners receiving an ice cream party are the classes of Mrs. Simpkins, Mrs. Sherman, Mrs. Penix, and Mrs.Mercer.
