Gladwin, Beaverton boys roll to wins

HARRISONThe Jack Pine Conference bowling teams began the new year Saturday at Snowbird Lanes in Harrison and both Gladwin and Beaverton got off to a good start with victories.The Beavers improved to 2-2 on the season with a 17-13 victory over Harrison.

The 2025 lake sturgeon fishing season on Black Lake in Cheboygan County, Michigan, will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1. All anglers must register online to participate in the season.

GLADWINIf a team wants credit for a great comeback, it has to close the deal.It has to get behind, rally and win the game.The Gladwin hockey team didn’t meet that standard in a 7-5 loss to visiting Marysville on Saturday.Still, that was a pretty good comeback.

The highest score of the day carried the Gladwin boys’ bowling team to a 29-1 victory over Ogemaw Heights On Dec. 21 in a Jack Pine Conference showdown at Snowbird Lanes.

Freshman Jacob Pahl scored 15 points as Gladwin beat Houghton Lake to head into the Christmas Break without a loss.

HOUGHTON LAKEThere was one more present to unwrap if the Gladwin boys’ basketball team wanted to head into the Christmas Break with a perfect record.The Flying G’s struggled with the tape and ribbons for awhile, but finally got to the good stuff and beat host Houghton Lake 75-54 on Dec.
