GLADWINThree Jack Pine Conference rivals were at Gladwin last Wednesday for a boys’ track meet and the Flying G’s took off with three lopsided victories, beating Standish 100-60, Harrison 130.5-32.5 and Beaverton 135-25.The Beavers lost to Standish 101-35 and to Harrison 108-40.

After finishing sixth in the first Jack Pine Conference outing of the season, the Gladwin golf team moved up the leaderboard last Tuesday, placing fourth in a nine-hole event at Sandy Ridge that was hosted by Meridian.

BEAVERTONTwo comebacks led to two victories over Blanchard Montabella for the Beaverton softball team last Wednesday.The Beavers had a little trouble early in the first game, but rallied for a 13-3 win that was shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

GJHS boys track place at Ithaca Relays

GLADWINThe Gladwin Junior High School boys track team ran at the Ithaca Relays on Thursday, May 1, against 13 schools. The competition was tough and the boys managed to come away with a fifth place finish. Medals were awarded out to fourth place and every event was a relay.

WEST BRANCHGladwin senior Abby Robinson opened the season by setting the school record in the 800-meter run.Last Wednesday, she went half the distance to set another school record by winning the 400 in a time of 59.33. The previous mark of 1:00.1 was set in 1988.
