WEST BRANCHTwo years ago, the Gladwin boys’ cross country team won a regional championship and placed fifth at the Division 2 state meet.Last year, the Flying G’s won another regional crown and ran eighth at the state meet.

GLADWINCrunch time is coming and the Gladwin volleyball team is picking up steam.The Flying G’s swept their way to a pair of victories last week to run their record to 6-2 in the Jack Pine Conference.On Monday at Meridian, the locals rolled to a 25-13, 25-8, 25-13 victory.

BEAVERTONAwild rally by the Beaverton junior varsity football team and a wilder finish by Clare lifted the Pioneers to a 36-20 victory Thursday.The Beavers scored on their opening drive, taking a 6-0 lead on a 15-yard touchdown run by Colton Miller.
Gladwin’s Alanis Povey ran a career best time of 20:43.13 in a meet last Wednesday and went on to finish fourth at the Northern Michigan Meet of Champions Saturday in Cadillac.

WEST BRANCHWhen the Ogemaw Heights football team beat visiting Meridian 34-0 Friday night, it was truly a milestone victory.It gave the Falcons a perfect 6-0 record in the Jack Pine Conference, their third straight league title and second in a row since joining the JPC last fall.
