Flying G’s wake up in time to spike Pinconning

GLADWIN aser focus was in short supply at the beginning of the Gladwin volleyball team’s match with visiting Pinconning last Wednesday night. The Flying G’s soared into the event atop the Jack Pine Conference with a 7-0 record, while the Spartans brought a 1-6 mark into the fray.

$16 million to help Veterans with disabilities participate in sports

WASHINGTON The Department of Veterans Affairs announced that it awarded nearly $16 million in grant funding to 91 national, regional, and community programs to help more than 13,000 Veterans and service members with disabilities participate in adaptive sports.

Gladwin JV Volleyball wins Quad

GLADWIN On Monday, September 25 the Junior Varsity volleyball team hosted a conference quad with Farwell, Shepherd and Harrison. The girls played Farwell first and won both sets 25-14, 25-11.

Beaverton ties Pinconning in final two minutes

BEAVERTON The Beaverton Junior Varsity (JV) Football team traveled to Pinconning on September 21. “Offensively we moved the ball very well, some kids stepped up and played really well,” commented JV head coach Aaron Wentworth.

Gladwin outworks Meridian with 43-0 win

GLADWIN On September 22, the Varsity football Flying G’s continued their winning streak against the Meridian Mustangs. Gladwin’s Jhace Massey rushed 80 yards down the field for their first touchdown of the night with 1:40 left in the first quarter.

Gladwin Volleyball reclaims Cedar Cup

GLADWIN The Flying G’s Volleyball team proved last week that they are a force to be reckoned with. “Gladwin played great tonight and executed their game plan,” stated Beaverton’s Varsity Head Coach Steve Evans. The two teams were neck and neck, for a very close three sets.

Gladwin Cross Country team competes in Jamboree Conference

GLADWIN On September 21, Gladwin Cross Country ran in the Jamboree Conference. The boys team earned first place.

BEAVERTON VOLLEYBALL LOSES TO GLADWIN

The Beaverton eighth-grade volleyball team played Gladwin on Tuesday, September 19. The Beaverton girls were close to winning, but unfortunately lost the first set 25-20. The Beavers took the win in the second set though, beating Gladwin with a score of 13-25.

Gladwin Girls Cross Country

The girls cross country team ran as well and placed third. The three top finishers were Abby Robinson who came in fifth with a time of 21:20, Lilian Binger seventh place time of 21:54 and Alanis Povey who followed in tenth place with a time of 22:15.
