William C. “Bill” Raymond
William C. “Bill” Raymond, age 89, of Gladwin, Michigan, passed away on Oct. 10, 2026, at Gladwin Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was born on June 21, 1937, in Flint, Michigan, to Delvin and Helen (Burns) Raymond. Bill was known by many simply as Bill, and he lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and a warm sense of humor that brought comfort and laughter to those around him. He was a funny and loving man whose presence made a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His life was rooted in the values of family, friendship, and steady commitment, and he carried those values with him throughout his years. Bill grew up in Butman Township and attended Gladwin High School. It was during those early years that he met the love of his life, Phyllis Lennon, while riding the school bus in 1954. Their friendship grew into a lifelong partnership, and the two were married on May 10, 1959. Their marriage was a true reflection of devotion and companionship, and together they built a family and a home filled with love, memories, and shared experiences. Phyllis survives him and remains a cherished part of the family he helped create. Bill spent many years working with dedication and pride. He worked as a barber for several years. Later, he worked as an operator at Dow Chemical Company for 30 years, where he would be remembered most for his pranks and shenanigans. Outside of work, Bill enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life meaningful to him. He had a love for woodworking and took satisfaction in creating with his hands. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, pastimes that gave him time to appreciate the outdoors and the quiet moments he valued so much. Bill and Phyllis were fortunate to be able to do a lot of traveling around the US including Alaska after his retirement.
Family was always at the center of Bill’s life. In addition to his wife, Phyllis, he is survived by his children: Scott (Tammy) Raymond, Tye (Lisa) Raymond, Shawn (Susan) Raymond, Dawn (Chris) Kuhns; along with 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Carol Tohm. He was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Raymond; and his grandson, Travis Raymond. His family will remember him for his humor, his kindness, and the love he gave so freely throughout his life. Bill’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his strong work ethic, and the laughter he shared with family and friends.
His life was one of quiet strength, deep love, and lasting devotion, and his legacy will continue through the generations of family he helped shape.
