BEAVERTONRegistrations are now being accepted for the 30th annual Beaverton Area Business Association (BABA) Golf Tournament, which is slated for Wednesday, June 12.The tournament starts at 8:30 a.m. at Snow Snake Golf Course and includes morning refreshments, lunch, and a steak dinner.

GLADWIN COUNTYThe Church Softball League is looking for singles or teams to play this summer on a co-ed team. They play on Monday nights at the Gladwin Softball Complex, 6:30 p.m., with prayer at 6:25 p.m. You must be 14 years old. The league starts June 3.

SHEPHERDDespite finishing in the middle of the pack at Saturday’s Division 2 regional at Shepherd, the Gladwin girls’ track team will be well-represented at the state meet June 1 at Hamilton.Petoskey won the team championship with 117.5 points, followed by Cadillac with 106, Shepherd with 79.

GLADWIN COUNTYThe Beaverton junior varsity softball team hosted rival Gladwin for a doubleheader last Tuesday and came out of the fray without a loss. The Beavers won the first game 17-14 as patience at the plate resulted in enough walks to overcome 10 hits by the Flying G’s.
