DEAR PAW’S CORNER: My cat, Tushy, sneezes several times a day, and her eyes water almost nonstop. This has been happening for a couple of weeks. She didn’t seem to have this issue before.

GJHS place third at Jack Pine Jamboree

The Gladwin junior high girls cross country team finished third out of eight teams at the first Jack Pine Jamboree conference meet hosted by Farwell on Wednesday, September 20.

GLADWIN On September 15, the Flying G’s played the Clare Pioneers. Clare put up quite the fight and at first, it put the Gladwin boys in a bad position but they fought back.

Shepherd beats Beaverton’s JV team

BEAVERTON On September 14, the Beaverton JV football team stayed on home field to play the Shepherd Blue Jays. This game was a quick one and an easy win for the Blue Jays but our boys still had fight in them.

Beaverton beat Farwell in JPC game

BEAVERTON On Wednesday, September 13, the Beaverton Varsity Volleyball team traveled to Farwell. The drive was well worth it considering the girls beat the Eagles 3-0. The first set ended with a score of 25-17. Farwell kept the game close, but, in the end, couldn’t beat the Beavers.

Kendon Bock, age 14, of Beaverton, shot this 8-point buck during the youth hunt on Pa Bock’s farm.

THREE IN A ROW

Brezlyn Chojnacki, age eight, shot an 8-point in the evening around 7:40 p.m. while hunting with her dad, Rich, in Gladwin County. This is her third year in a row that she’s gotten a deer.

Northwood Esports brings home first championship of the year

MIDLAND Northwood Esports won the 2023 Collegiate Smash Riptide championship in Sandusky, Ohio. Northwood defeated the University of Cincinnati, University of Akron, Purdue University, Oakland University, Notre Dame and Lawrence Tech to get to the grand finals.
