Carol Ann Glenn

Carol Ann Glenn, age 80, of Midland, died May 10, 2023, at the MyMichigan Medical Center–Midland Hospice Comfort Care, after a long illness. Daughter of the late Lloyd “Al” and Bessie M. (Morse) Parker, Carol was born in Midland on June 3, 1942. After graduating from Midland High School, she married James E. Noykos Sr., on February 6, 1960. They had three children, daughters, Catherine and Colleen; and a son, James Jr. On December 29, 1991, she married Tomas A. Glenn. They spent many great years together until his death on December 5, 2020.

Although Carol worked at Dow Chemical’s Computer Tape Library – remember those? As a secretary for an attorney – now called legal assistants, and Northwood (when it still was a college) as the mailing room supervisor. Her true interest was the bar business. In the late 1970s, Carol owned Sadie’s Tavern and in the mid-1990s she bought Elk Lake Bar and The Cedar Bar – both located in Gladwin. She was known for her bean soup and spaghetti sauce.

Carol liked wintering in Fort Myers, Florida, crossword puzzles, gameshows, reading, and classic country music. In her younger years, Carol loved to roller skate and paint ceramics.

She even owned her own kiln. Carol had an appreciation for classic cars and enjoyed car shows.

Carol is survived by her two daughters, Catherine Jo Noykos Dixon and Colleen M. (Roger “Butch”) Lewis; brother, Fred A. Parker; brother-in-law, Robert A. Atwater; sister-in-law, Diana C. (Bright) Parker; stepson, Tomas B. (Lisa) Glenn; granddaughter, Brittanie (Glenn) Thompson; grandson, Boyd W. Glenn; great-granddaughter, Mattie Thompson; and special friends, Dewayne Cassiday, Martha Letts, and Kelly Proctor.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, Carol was preceded in death by her son, James E.

Noykos Jr.; sister, Wanda M. Parker; brother, Milton H. Parker; and dear friend and sister-in-law, Barbara J.

(Lyon) Parker. Carol also had a special bond with her daughter, Catherine’s cat, Molly, who she called, “Grandma’s little sweetheart.”

Memorial services for Carol will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from the Ware Smith Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 West Wheeler Street.

Reverend Jung Eun Yum will officiate with burial to be held at a later date. Family will receive friends at the funeral home for visitation on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 3-7 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Midland County Humane Society, Midland’s Open Door, or Gladwin’s Sacred Heart Catholic Mission.
