LAKE CITYThe Gladwin golf team tangled with Northern Michigan Christian, Manton, McBain, Pinconning and Meridian at an invitational at Missaukee Golf Club in Lake City last Monday and came out on top.Aiden McKenna took first overall with a 35.

GLADWINThe Gladwin Junior High School Boys Track (GJHS) team traveled to Farwell on Tuesday, April 23 and competed in their second conference meet of the year. They had a great outing posting high marks, and new personal bests. They had many notable top three overall finishes.

PINCONNINGThe Jack Pine Conference softball season got underway Thursday and things did not go Gladwin’s way as the Flying G’s lost both ends of a doubleheader at Pinconning.Tessa Cameron led off the first game with a home run, but the visiting locals did not score again in a 6-1 setback.

HARRISONFirst place was a bit overrated Wednesday when the Gladwin girls’ track team lost to Clare 85-78 in a Jack Pine Conference tri-meet at Harrison.The Flying G’s won nine of the 17 events, but the Pioneers had the depth up and down the lineup that made the difference.

GLADWINThe top team in the Northern Michigan Soccer League handed the Gladwin soccer team its first loss of the season last Monday.Undefeated McBain Northern Michigan Christian edged the home team 1-0 in a nice set-up for a rematch between the rivals on May 13.

BEAVERTONAfter some weatherinduced false starts, the track season finally got underway last Wednesday for Beaverton as the boys’ and girls’ teams hosted Jack Pine Conference rivals Farwell and Clare.Clare’s deep talented teams were way ahead of the competition.

ROSCOMMONFriday was sweet 16 times two for the Gladwin softball team.The Flying G’s traveled north for a doubleheader at Roscommon and won both games by identical 16-0 scores in three innings.
