BEAVERTONThe individual state meet marked the end of the 2024-25 high school wrestling season and ushered in awards season.Beaverton state champion Eli Roe earned First Team All-Conference honors in Division 2 of the Jack Pine Conference at 157 pounds.

Gladwin girls head into tourney with two wins

GLADWINClosing out the regular season with two wins in two nights sent the Gladwin girls’ basketball team into this week’s state tournament with some momentum.Kind of. The Flying G’s wrapped things up last Tuesday with a 35-28 victory at Farwell that was hardly an instant classic.

Beaverton girls ready to host tough district

BEAVERTONThere aren’t any easy games on the docket for the Beaverton girls’ basketball team this week as the Beavers host a Division 3 district tournament.They will tip things off tonight at 7 p.m. with a semifinal battle against Beal City.The winner will play in the championship game Friday at 7 p.

ALPENAIt was close for a long time and then it wasn’t. The Gladwin hockey team was eliminated from the Division 3 state tournament last Wednesday night when the Flying G’s lost 5-1 to host Alpena in the regional finals.

Local bowlers compete at states

JACKSONAfter knocking off Jack Pine champion Standish for a regional championship, the Gladwin boys’ bowling team headed to the Division 3 Team Finals Friday at JAX 60 in Jackson with a head of steam.
