BEAVERTONTwo quick scores led to a convincing win Thursday night when the Beaverton junior varsity football team beat visiting St. Louis 28-8.The Beavers cashed in their opening drive on a 23-yard touchdown run by Easton Hess.

OGEMAWThe Gladwin Junior High cross-country teams traveled to Ogemaw last Wednesday night, Oct 1. to run in the second Jackpine Jamboree of the season. The conditions were some of the best the team has run in this season.

GLADWINThe hosts had the most Saturday at the Cedar Bend Invitational as Gladwin’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams dominated their races on their home course at the Gladwin County Recreation Area.The boys took three of the top four spots and won with a team total of 30 points.

GLADWINAfter racking up the first win of the season the week before, the Gladwin junior varsity football team ran into a road block Thursday night in a 47-14 loss to visiting Shepherd.“They were bigger than we are and way more physical,” said Flying G’s coach Justin Cherry.

GLADWINThe rushing statistics were not close Friday night when the Gladwin football team hosted Standish-Sterling.Neither was the final score.The Flying G’s held the Panthers to minus-2 yards on the ground, while running off with 259 of their own on the way to a 35-0 victory.

SHEPHERDShepherd hosted its annual Blue Jay Invitational Saturday and the Gladwin girls’ cross country team brought home a pair of medals.The Flying G’s finished eighth with 254 points in a field of 21 teams in the Gold Division.
The Gladwin Junior High boys ran well against 17 other schools during the Shepherd Invite, with four runners bringing home medals.
