Gladwin Girls Track hosts first conference meet of season

GLADWIN The Lady G’s took to the Track and Field last Wednesday, hosting their first conference meet of the season. The Flying G’s dueled against Shepherd and Harrison, kicking off their conference season with a 1-1 record.

Beaverton baseball wins one, loses one over the weekend

BEAVERTON Beaverton hosted a tournament over the weekend inviting Standish-Sterling and Ithaca to partake in the event. The Beavers defeated the Standish-Sterling Panthers 4-1 but failed to keep pace with the Ithaca Yellow Jackets, losing to Ithaca 13-2.

GLADWIN The famous Sam’s Scramble is going strong at Gladwin Heights Golf Course. The scramble will be every Friday through out the year. Bring your own team or come alone. We will make you a team. This is a great fun event for all.

The Gladwin Golf team took first place out of seven teams in the Gladwin Invitational at Sugar Springs Golf Club on April 20. Golfers Aiden McKenna, Treyton Siegert and Hunter McDowell all finished in the top five.

Despite consecutive losses to Garber, Lucas Mead continues to shine at the plate this season

GLADWIN Lucas Mead’s batting average this season has eclipsed .600 for the second time after finishing a perfect 6-for-6 at the plate Thursday night. Despite the slugger’s excellent performance, the Flying G’s fell to the Essexville Garber Dukes, sustaining damage to their strong standing record.

Dow Diamond Showdown

MIDLAND The seats of Midland’s Dow Diamond, baseball stadium to MLB’s (Major League Baseball) minor league affiliation the Great Lake Loons, were painted in blue and red Tuesday night as the Flying G’s of Gladwin outdueled the Beavers of Beaverton 8-2 in varsity baseball action.

Beaverton Varsity Softball split doubleheader to Coleman

COLEMAN The Beaverton Beavers varsity softball team traveled to Coleman on April 10. The Beavers split the doubleheader, losing the first game to the Coleman Comets while winning the second. The Comets shutout Beaverton in the night’s first of two games, defeating the Beavers by a score of 10-0.
