Lady G’s Track sends five to State after qualifying Friday night

SHEPHERD Five ladies are heading to Grand Rapids for the Flying G’s on June 3 for the MHSAA Division 2 State Finals after qualifying Friday night. Gladwin and 14 other schools gathered at the track in Shepherd this past Friday, taking part in Region 11’s Track and Field State Qualifying Meet.

Gladwin Boys Track wins first Regional Title since 2001

HARRISON This was yet another great week for the boys track and field program. First, the boys made the short trip to Harrison on Monday for the ninth and tenth grade meet. No team score was kept but Gladwin would dominate many of the events. Andrew Von Matt finished sixth in the long jump.

Beaverton softball loses two to the Clare Pioneers

BEAVERTON The Lady Beavers of Beaverton varsity softball played hard Thursday night, hosting their Jack Pine Conference rival the Clare Pioneers. The girls dropped both games of the doubleheader to Clare, losing game one 12-1 and game two 8-4.

CLARE The Beaverton Beavers Track and Field team traveled to Clare Friday night, competing with 14 other schools in the MHSAA Division 3 Regional meet. Beaverton returned home with two athletes qualifying for the Individual State Finals on Saturday, June 3.

Gladwin Junior High girls Track places fourth in Conference Championship

SHEPHERD The Gladwin Junior High girls track team met in Shepherd on May 16 for the Conference Championship meet. The girls placed fourth as a team scoring 90 points. Taking first place for the meet was Clare with 207 points.

Gladwin girls soccer went 2-1 last week to close out their regular season. They lost at home to the Ogemaw Heights Falcons, 4-3, on Tuesday, May 16. The girls then hosted Houghton Lake on Thursday, winning 9-1.

Gladwin baseball unable to sweep the Beavers, tie in game three

BEAVERTON Not so fast. Back on April 11, the baseball teams of Gladwin and Beaverton traveled to Dow Diamond. During that game, everything clicked for the Flying G’s, defeating the Beavers with a certain sense of ease 8-2.
Logan Klein broke the Gladwin High School Shot Put record of 50 feet, five inches, that was set in 1988. At the Meridian Conference Meet, Logan threw 51 feet, nine inches.
