NEW YORK Roger Craig, who pitched for three championship teams during his major league career and then managed the San Francisco Giants to the 1989 World Series that was interrupted by a massive earthquake, has died. He was 93.

Beaverton girls softball finish season with loss to Harrison

STANDISH The Beaverton Beavers and Harrison Hornets girls softball teams met up in Standish Tuesday, May 30. The District playoff game featured a late game surge to give Harrison a 6-3 victory over the Beavers. Heading to the sixth inning both teams were locked in a 3-3 tie.

G’s baseball wins first Jack Pine title since 2004

GLADWIN The 2023 Flying G’s varsity baseball team were crowned the Jack Pine Conference champions last week, their second Jack Pine title in program history. The Flying G’s closed up their conference season hosting a doubleheader against the Clare Pioneers on Monday night, May 22.

GLADWIN Monday, May 22, wrapped up the conference season for the Gladwin’s Lady G’s softball. The girls hosted the Clare Pioneers in two highly impressive defensive games. Both games needed an extra eighth inning to determine an outcome.

MERIDIAN The Beaverton Beavers baseball season continues after defeating the Meridian Mustangs on Friday night. The game was Beaverton’s first of the MHSAA playoff season and their first victory in what they hope could be a great playoff run.

Visitors at state-designated swim beaches along the Great Lakes in Michigan state parks should be aware of double red flag warnings, which mean do not enter the water.
