GLADWIN – Female athletes from Gladwin High School continue to work out in anticipation of the fall season. Thirty girls are participating in the virtual training sessions, which wrapped up their second week on Friday. “It’s been challenging not being able to see the athletes everyday,” said Coach Tony Wetmore. “The captains have been working hard on contacting their athletes and having a discussion about how the workouts have been going.” The workouts captains are Taylor Vasher, Emma Schwan, Delaney Cote and Chloe Kokotovich.
Four girls were recognized by their respective captains for their efforts during week two. “Skylar Davy is always eager to do the workouts, she wants to get better,” said Kokotovich. Cote mentioned that, “Ava Hite is one of the younger athletes participating. She always has a smile on her face and consistently pushes herself to improve.” “Emily Heyer completes her workouts everyday and always sends fun and creative pictures to the group chat,” added Vasher. “She also helps the other athletes stay accountable to the group.” “Sadie Schuler worked extremely hard this week,” commented Schwan. “She asks questions about the drills and communicates with her captain about the goals she should be working towards to be ready for next year.”
The four squads held a competition last Friday with Emma Schwan’s group coming out on top. The seven members of her team ran a total of 22 miles, did 900 squats and planked for 23 minutes.
