SANFORD – “It’s amazing to watch the girls improve each week,” said Coach Renee Pratt. “The A team played well against Meridian.” Gladwin split the first two games with the Mustangs 25-15, 26-27, but came back to win the third game 15-12 to take the match. “We had some great volleys because Meridian was good at getting to the ball and setting up their offense,” said Pratt. “The Gladwin girls were just stronger with their plays.” Lizzie Haines and Ava Hale led the team in serves and also attacked well at the net as did Samantha Musselman. McKenna Pratt and Brytan Muma played well from the back row and Chloe Lawrason was good under pressure.
The B team lost both games to Meridian by scores of 11-25, 14-25. “They struggled with a tough Meridian serve,” said Pratt. They also need to work on “moving the ball.” Skylar McDonald and Madi Day led the team in serves. Josie Dungerow showed great floor leadership during the match.
