Gladwin played their first home game of the year last week against Farwell.

GLADWIN – Gladwin fell 36-22 to Farwell in their home opener last week. The Eagles used a power running attack to chew up both yardage and time on the clock. “Farwell did a good job of limiting our possessions with their run game. We only had 40 offensive plays, while they amassed almost 80,” said Coach Marc Jarstfer. “In the end, we had too many mistakes offensively and didn’t take advantage of opportunities that we had.”

Jacob McLemore scored the first Gladwin touchdown on a 46-yard pass from Dillon Kroening. He had two more catches in the game for a total of 59 yards. Kaden McDonald also caught a 45-yard touchdown pass from Kroening. Blake McCummings had the longest catch of the day when he went 58 yards on a throw from Kroening. Kroening was 9-23 for 214 yards in the game. Logan Kokotovich ran for 68 yards and a touchdown in his first game on the varsity team.

Mitchell Duke led the defense with 11 tackles, McDonald had eight. Gladwin is currently 0-3 overall, 0-2 in the Jack Pine Conference. They welcome Harrison to town this week for the 2019 Homecoming celebration. This year’s theme is Board Games. The parade starts at 4:30 p.m. from the Farmers Market down Cedar to Bowery St. to the high school.
