Gladwin Junior High Cross Country end season with Regionals in Gaylord

The Gladwin junior high and intermediate girls cross country team ran a great race at the spook-tacular third jamboree of the season at Mid Michigan College Wednesday, October 19. The Deadwood Grove haunted forest was set up on sections of our course which made for an interesting race. The first Gladwin girl to finish out of 68 runners was Vivian O’Callaghan in 13th place with a time of 12:59. She placed 12th in the conference overall with 25 points earning her a Jack Pine Conference certificate for being in the top 20 for our conference. Finishing in 28th place was Jewelia Anderson with 13:45.

29th was Rina Graveline 13:49, 31st Olivia Evans 13:49, 36th Charlotte Mawhorter 14:24, 48th Estella Dicken 15:07, 50th Madisyn Lockwood 15:07, 57th Arliena Grant 15:42, 63rd Gianna Cingano 16:19. Gladwin finished 4th with 110 points. They finished 4th in the conference with 15 points.

The Gladwin Intermediate cross country girls 1.25 mile race had 42 contenders. Finishing first for Gladwin and receiving a special certificate for being in the top ten was Breanna Aalderink finishing 10th place with a time of 10:08 PR. Chloe Johnson finished 11th with 10:10 PR, 12th Vada Povey 10:22, 13th Klaire Thurlow 10:24 PR. The birthday girl Raygen Searfoss finished 15th with 10:44 PR.

Emma Gee 16th 10:44 PR, 17th Rylee Lewis 10:45 PR, 18th Juliana Ritchie 10:50 PR, 19th Adalyn Gray 10:52 PR, 25th Brielle Graveline 12:32, 26th Ember Piper 13:06, 27th Kendall Day 13:19 PR, 28th Braelyn Farling 13:43 PR, 29th Suthern Reed 13:45, 30th Cheyenne Gee 13:51, 32nd Sydney Govitz 14:01 PR, Taylor Hamilton 40th 16:58, 41st Maggie Edick 17:09, 42nd Pyper Cushing 17:23 PR. Many of these young ladies ran this third jamboree with faster times receiving personal records in the 1.25 mile race. Gladwin finished in second place with 56 points. Great way to finish the season ladies!

Every single boy on the Gladwin Junior High boys cross country team ran their PR in the 1.84 mile race. The team finished 4th overall in the Jack Pine for the season. The boys race had 48 runners total. Running well for Gladwin were Ben Bowen in 33rd, Ethan Davis in 32nd, Cole Lockwood in 30th, Ryder Johnson in 28th, Adam Cameron in 25th, Mason Cameron in 22nd, Jeffery Sisson in 13th, and Myles Robinson in 3rd. After the final standings for the season were calculated Jeffery Sisson finished 15th overall for the 3 jamborees, and Myles Robinson finished 2nd overall. Both of the boys earned Jack Pine Certificates for their overall placing. Mason and Adam Cameron just missed out on certificates finishing 22nd and 23rd overall in the conference.

GAYLORD The Gladwin Junior High cross country team wrapped up their season at regionals in Gaylord at the Ostego Resort on Friday, October 21. The weather was beautiful and the girls team ran some of their best times.

Finishing first for Gladwin in the 179 person varsity race was Vivian O’Callahan 65th with a time of 14:29 PR, 90th Jewelia Anderson 15:07 PR, 95th Charlotte Mawhorter 15:12 PR, 96th Rina Graveline 15:14 PR, 121st Estella Dicken 16:12 PR, 136th Arliena Grant 17:00, 157th Olivia Evans 18:05. In the 81 person junior varsity race Madisyn Lockwood finished 39th with a time off 16:15. Gladwin finished 14th overall.

The boys team ran well on the fast course ending their season with several PR’s for the 2 mile course. The JV race had a total of 86 runners. Ethan Davis represented the Flying G’s in this race and finished 33rd overall with his season record of 14:58. The varsity race had a total of 197 runners and 36 teams. The boys team finished 15th overall with Ben Bowen in 141st, with his PR of 14:36. Cole Lockwood ran his PR of 14:09 and finished 122nd. Ryder Johnson ran his PR of 14:05 and finished 118th. Adam Cameron ran his PR of 13:43 and finished 105th. Mason Cameron, running on injured knees, ran his PR of 13:27 and finished 88th, and Jeffery Sisson ran 13:18 to finish 83rd. The team was led by Myles Robinson with his consistent running, he finished 8th overall with a time of 11:31. Myles also won a medal, as they were awarded to the top 20 finishers in the race.

The intermediate boys cross country team ran their last race Wednesday, October 19 through the haunted woods of Mid Michigan College. Last time they ran here some of them were stung by bees, this time they had to worry about zom”bees”!

Running well for Gladwin were, Matthew Lennon in 29th, Grayson Poynter in 28th, Maddox Day in 27th, Brennan Smith in 26th, Gunner Poynter in 24th, Ashton Schmidt in 23rd, Austin Dandrea in 22nd, Jayce Hetherington in 21st, Marcus Smith in 20th, Noah Lefevere in 18th, Parker Sischo in 16th, Dominick Iafrate in 15th, Alex Hamilton in 14th, Patrick Dolan in 13th, and Remington Roberts in 11th. The top ten finishers earned certificates last night. Legend Leddy finished 10, Jonah Griffiths finished 9th and Ivan Christensen finished 1st overall. The team finished 1st overall, they worked very hard to improve all season and 14 out of the 18 runners ran their best time for that distance at the race. Great job to the entire team.
