GLADWIN – The Gladwin bowling teams completed another successful conference season last Saturday at Northern Lanes in Sanford when both the girls and boys teams won the Jack Pine Team Challenge to complete the season undefeated. This is the fourth year in a row that the girls have gone through the season undefeated.
Mackenzie Weston finished the conference season in second place overall with a 185.4 average just two behind Jenna Betts of Clare who finished at 187. Hallie Brink of Beaverton was third at 185.3 Kayla Van Tiem and Bailey Weston of Gladwin rounded out the top five with 173 and 170 averages respectively.
Gladwin took four of the top five spots on the boys side. Gladwin bowlers Tanner Mielke and Ryan Day finished first and second with 206 and 199.9 averages respectively. Will Rouech of Harrison finished third followed by another pair of Gladwin bowlers Cody Roehrs and Ethan Weston. Two other local bowlers finished in the top ten with Tucker Roehrs of Gladwin in ninth and Beaverton’s Drew Minkina in tenth.
The bowlers return to the lanes next Saturday in Clare when they compete in the Jack Pine Singles Tourney at Gateway Lanes. The girls competition starts at 9 a.m. and the boys follow at 1 p.m. The Jack Pine Awards Ceremony will be held following the Tournament on Saturday.
