MIDLAND – The Gladwin Cross Country teams competed in their first event last Saturday when they ran in the Lancer Invitational at Stratford Woods. “The course was difficult, as most cross country courses are,” said Coach Ashley Burr. “The ground was soft and the footing was difficult in some spots. That being said, I am very excited to see what kind of times these athletes will run on a fast course later in the season!”
The Gladwin athletes ran well in the event with five medaling. Kylee Zietz, Macy Haines and Jasmine Strayer medaled for the girls along with Wilson Bragg and Jerod Guoan for the boys.

Girls; Kylee Zietz – 25:04 - 44th, Macy Haines – 25:05 - 45th, Jasmine Strayer – 25:58 - 52nd, Olivia Kleinhardt – 26:41 - 59th.
Boys; Wilson Bragg- 19:31 - 29th, Jerod Guoan – 19:41 - 34th, Ethan Edgar – 20:59 - 57th, Josh O’Henley – 21:20 - 62nd, Grant Otto – 21:43 - 70th, Tanner Bissonette – 21:58 - 72nd, Carson Allen – 23:17 - 98th, Connor McInnes – 28:05, Jack Wilford – 30:17.
Coach Burr is excited about this week’s race in Holly. The event is known as the Duane Raffin Festival of Races and includes several unique features. It is one of the biggest meets in the state and will feature live drone coverage. The organizers also play music at the finish. She said, “It should be a really fun race for everyone.”
