The Gladwin County Captains travel baseball team recently took part in the Charlotte Baseball Club Rec Tournament. The team played excellent all weekend and came away with the tournament championship, going 4-0.Â
The Captains got off to a great start Saturday morning when they dominated South Haven Surge 15-1. Jacob Pahl and Karsen Reid combined for eight strikeouts on the mound. Brady Boynton, Eisen Corlew, Trinity Hair, MJ McDonald, Pahl, and Reid all collected hits in the win. The Captains took their next game in dramatic fashion, thanks to a walk-off triple by MJ McDonald to defeat Michigan X Factor 6-5. Corlew, Hair, McDonald, and Archer Lamson each contributed with a single. Pahl and Dalton Dull racked up two singles each.
The Captains entered semi-finals play on Sunday and proved they were no match for the Grand Blanc Bobcats, winning 12-2. Caden Mckeever, Cameron Oard, Hair, Lamson, Pahl, and Reid secured hits in the win.Â
In the championship game, the Captains kept their bats going and claimed the victory over the Portland Raiders 11-1. Dull, McDonald, McKeever, Pahl, and Reid all drove in runs. McKeever tripled, Corlew doubled, and Oard, Pahl, and McDonald singled.
