    GLADWIN

    The first week of the season was a big success for the Gladwin volleyball team.

    The Flying G’s opened up with two wins on Wednesday and then racked up five more Saturday to win the championship at an eight-team tournament hosted by Standish.

    Gladwin won its pool by topping Carrollton 25-9, 25-14; Pinconning 19-25, 25-22, 159; and Bullock Creek 25-17, 25-13.
