Intensity. Thrills. Heartpounding action. Rivalry week for the Gladwin Flying G’s and the Beaverton Beavers was capped off with a hotly contested boys varsity basketball game Friday night at Beaverton. The Flying G’s came one point short of trying Beaverton late in the game, ultimately falling to the Beavers 49-45. With the victory, Butch returns to the display cases of the Beaverton Junior/Senior High School.
Beaverton submerged the Flying G’s on the scoreboard, jolting to an 8-3 run early in the first quarter. Gladwin would threaten Beaverton’s lead on multiple occasions; however, the Beavers never buckled under pressure, refusing to relinquish the lead through the entirety of the game.
