PINCONNING – The Beaverton Junior Varsity football team went to Pinconning last Thursday for a game with the Spartans. The Beavers scored early and often in the 55-0 win. Noah Coffey capped off the opening drive with a one-yard run for a touchdown. Coffey followed up with a 66-yard punt return for a touchdown. Alex Killian’s extra point made the score 14-0. The Beavers scored again on the ensuing kickoff when Pinconning fumbled and Brian Northrup returned it 35 yards for a touchdown.
Beaverton scored another none offensive touchdown when Logan Love took an interception 74 yards for a score. Beaverton scored three more times before the halftime on runs of 90 yards and 19 yards by Coffey, and 50 yards by Mitch Hall. The Beavers led 49-0 at the half. Alex Pahl completed the scoring early in the fourth quarter when he ran one in from the two-yard line.
Coffey ended up with 132 yards and four touchdowns on six carries. Gage Swartzmiller had 51 yards on nine carries, Hall had three carries for 56 yards and Killian had 63 yards on only two attempts. Leading tacklers for the Beavers were Love with 5, and Cody Schuler and Seth Onweller four. Coach Aaron Wentworth was happy with his team’s performance. “It’s not often when you get three scores on defense and special teams combined. The kids really played well tonight in all phases of the game.”
The junior varsity team plays again at Farwell on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
