MIDLAND – The Beaverton High School Equestrian team became the District 6 Division C Reserve Champions last weekend at the Midland County Fairgrounds. Their finish earned them a place at the regional competition Sept. 27-29 at the Midland County Fairgrounds. Kaitlynn Brown-Maxwell, Ashley Cooper and Brenna McKimmy competed for the Beavers.
Brown-Maxwell was the top rider in the C Division accumulating the most points over the three days of competition. Her highest finish was in the Hunt Seat Showmanship Class where she finished first. She finished second in the Saddle Seat Showmanship, and Western Showmanship Classes. She also finished third in six classes. In all, she placed in 26 different classes.
McKimmy’s best placing was a second in the Saddle Seat Class. She finished third in the Saddle Seat pattern Class. She placed in 23 different classes. Cooper was second in Western Showmanship and placed in eight classes.
Coach Dennis Maxwell was happy with the girls performances. “We are thankful for a wonderful hard-working group of girls,” he said. “The girls have truly been dedicated this year. Some have taken on different classes they have never done before. We had our ups and downs but never gave up, they kept fighting.”
