PINCONNING – The Beavers remained one game behind Shepherd in the Jack Pine Conference race when they beat Pinconning last Thursday 60-46. Pinconning got off to a fast start taking a five-point lead in the first quarter. The Spartans continued to hold the lead at halftime, 26-22. “It took us a while to find our rhythm,” said Coach Roy Johnston. “In the fourth quarter we finally played well.”
Beaverton grabbed the lead in the third quarter and put the game away in the fourth when they outscored Pinconning 17-8. David Krohn and Trent Reed led Beaverton with 15 points each. Carson Oldani had 12, Jarrett Inscho added nine. Zach Johnston led Pinconning with 18 points.
Beaverton is 3-1 on the season heading into their Tuesday night game at Farwell. They play Gladwin Friday night in Gladwin. The girls play first at 6 p.m. with the boys plying in the nightcap at approximately 7:30 p.m.
