Letter of

To the Editor:

This is a copy of the letter I sent to the Board of Commissioners on November 18, 2020. I also want to send it via the Record & Clarion to the citizens of Gladwin County.

It is with a very heavy heart that I write this letter. Because of family needs and in the best interests of my beloved county, I must resign my position effective Monday, November 30, 2020.

This Board of Commissioners must be attending to the new budget, and making adjustments to personnel changes. You need to be able to have the actual people who will be working with the process in 2021, rather than someone who would have been done the end of December.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working with you Ron, Kyle, Rick and Joel. I believe we always had the best interests of the county when we made our difficult decisions. I know the county is in good hands moving forward with the addition of Karen Moore and Kyle Diller.

Thank you for allowing me to serve as chair, by default, these past two years. You always made it easier for our decisions and I loved working with you. So, onward and upward, and I know you will continue to keep the best interests of our county citizens at the forefront of all your decisions.

God Bless each and every one of you, and may your decisions be made with God’s blessings.

Coleman parade cancelation

To the Editor:

After much deliberation and with the recent COVID-19 developments, it is with great sadness that the Coleman Holiday Parade Committee has made the decision to cancel this year’s holiday parade and fireworks.

With all the uncertainty pertaining to the COVID-19 virus, the committee has determined the risk to be too great to our community. Your parade committee plans to host the variety show, parade and fireworks in 2021.

The committee will continue collecting cans and bottles with the hope to make your 2021 fireworks bigger and brighter. We thank you for all the support you have given our committee in the past and also for helping us financially fund the parade and fireworks.

A special thanks goes out to Robert Schafer who emceed the event and to the Gladwin High School Band for their outstanding performance. Their musical selections were excellent and much appreciated.
